The promise of Stoicism has always been that, with practice, we can live what the ancients called “the Good Life.” However, life is filled with difficulties and setbacks, and for many of us actually living “the Good Life” is a tall order. And for those of us in leadership positions, our roles come with many additional challenges, which are not always easy to live up to.
Living, working, and leading, well, are demanding endeavours, and this is where most of us struggle to keep up or to reach our full potential. Indeed, since we all have personal, professional and spiritual or philosophical lives, we must strive to do reasonably well in all these realms, if we would find lasting fulfillment. The Stoic path addresses exactly this core existential challenge: how to live well across the board.
Indeed, Stoicism is a practical philosophy that helps us to develop our personal excellence and our full potential, such that we do well in all of life’s settings – at home, at work, in our leadership roles, and in our spiritual lives.
